About Me

Hello!  My name is Jessica and I’m a 23 year old recent college grad and newlywed.  I have been struggling with my weight since before I can even remember.  It doesn’t help when you have a naturally thin sister who loved to eat fast food hamburgers and a mother who is amazing in the kitchen.  I was at my peak physical fitness when I was 16, I probably weight around 140 and was in tennis, dance, and soccer.  Yet, I always thought I was the “fat” friend and making feeble attempts to lose a few extra “vanity pounds” as my doctor put it.  Looking back on photos, I was way too hard on myself and only wish that I could look like that now!

I maintained my weight for the most part my first 2 years of college, in part by having a very thin boyfriend with an overactive metabolism (I couldn’t weigh more than my boyfriend!) and walking to classes and his dorm which was across campus from me.  After we broke up I was with my now husband.  I got a little too comfortable and starting taking the bus to classes and had a job where I was mostly sedentary.  I was also going through a lot of stress with school and my family and the pounds just kind of creeped up on me and 3 years later, whoa, I’ve gained 60lbs!

I still made feeble attempts to work out and eat right but it was just so easy to grab fast food, go out to bars and then have some late night munchies, and again, take the bus to class.  I found this fitness/weight loss community on tumblr and am using it as my opportunity to get inspired, motivated, and hold myself accountable for health.

Please don’t hesitate to ask me questions, follow, or share your tips and what not.  I am doing this the healthy way and have started running and watching my calorie intake.  I couldn’t do this for my wedding but I’m going to do it for me, finally!  I have a cruise in May that will be my motivator to work hard.  It’s just 7 months of hard work and perseverance and then I have the rest of my life to look forward to!
